Susan Battley

Susan BattleySusan Battley (Chair 2018-2021, Member 2014-2022) is the founder and CEO of Battley Performance Consulting, a boutique advisory firm to world-class leaders and boards. She is an internationally recognized authority on strategic leadership and boardroom effectiveness. 

An expert commentator on leader trends in the national news media, she holds a PhD with Distinction in economic history from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Doctor of Psychology degree from Long Island University. Her articles have appeared in leading business and professional publications, including Leader to Leader, Oxford University Press Handbook of Psychology, Leadership Excellence, Forbes and Fast Company. Fast Focus on Success, her radio program on leadership excellence, was commended for its innovation by the Clinton White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Susan is a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors. She has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Metropolitan Opera Guild, as well as on the Advisory Council of the Harvard Business Review. A licensed psychologist in New York State, she is a member of the Smithsonian New York Regional Council, The Authors Guild, American Psychological Association, Society of Consulting Psychology, and The Bibliographical Society of America.

Prior to starting her firm in 1998, she was a consulting psychologist, ombudsman, and scholar of early modern European history. She lives in Stony Brook, New York.
