The Anacostia Community Museum Library is a resource supporting the mission of the Anacostia Community Museum, which is to challenge perceptions, broaden perspectives, generate new knowledge, and deepen understanding about the ever-changing concepts and realities of ‘community’ while maintaining its strong ties to Anacostia and the D.C. Metropolitan region.
The repository features a modern reading room with connections for laptops and cameras, and a microform reader. Researchers must call or email Mike Hardy in advance of any visit to ensure materials are available for viewing.
The Library will be on the second floor of the National Museum of African American History & Culture which is currently under construction and slated to open in late 2015. The library collection will reflect the mission of the museum and support the research and documentation of all aspects of the African American experience.
