Smithsonian Libraries Hosts Paper Engineering Lecture Series

The Smithsonian Institution Libraries opens its new exhibition “Paper Engineering: Fold, Pull, Pop and Turn” in the National Museum of American History June 14. The exhibition features the art of paper engineering in the production of books with moving parts, such as peep shows (pictures viewed through a small hole), volvelles (wheel charts), accordion books and popup books, published from the 15th century to modern times.

Smithsonian Libraries Announces New Internship Program

The Smithsonian Institution Libraries has announced a new, paid internship program for graduate students interested in working in research and museum libraries. The program covers specific areas, including special collections and preservation, technical services, digital projects and research, reference and reader services.
