U.S. Patent Office, 1869
Part of: Collection of United States patents granted to Thomas A. Edison, 1869-1884
70. Menlo Park
Edison created thousands of inventions in his laboratory at Menlo Park, N.J., and the best were covered by over a thousand patents. The patent for the electric lamp was just one of over a thousand produced from the laboratory of Edison. Financed by a wealthy syndicate in 1878, it took less than two years for edison and Francis Upton to develop a working carbon-filament lamp.
