In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating women’s stories in our second AVMPI Presents program. Join us for a screening of audiovisual materials from across the Smithsonian that represent both the spectrum of American women’s history and the diversity of our film and video collections.

Siobhan Hagan is the Initiative Coordinator for the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives' Audiovisual Media Preservation Initiative (AVMPI) and holds her M.A. in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has worked in a variety of collecting organizations throughout her career, including the UCLA Library, the National Aquarium, and the DC Public Library. Siobhan is the founder of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Moving Image Archive (MARMIA) and has been an active member of the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA): she is currently co-chair of the Regional Audio-Visual Archives Committee and has previously held the positions of co-chair of the Local TV Task Force, a member of the Election Committee, and Director of the Board. Siobhan’s passion is the preservation and access of regional audiovisual materials, local television, home movies, and community and personal archiving.

Emily Nabasny is a contractor at the Smithsonian Institution. She is currently working as the Media Archives Technician at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where Emily works on the preservation of film and video media materials in the museum’s collections.

Kira Sobers is Media Digitization Manager, Smithsonian Libraries and Archives, and an AVMPI Task Force member.

Walter Forsberg is Curator of Audiovisual Media for the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives' AVMPI.
