The Smithsonian Libraries and Smithsonian Institution Archives have merged staff and operations to become Smithsonian Libraries and Archives.

The Smithsonian Institution’s Board of Regents voted Oct. 21 to appoint Carmen Agra Deedy and Brandon Neal to the Smithsonian Libraries Advisory Board in 2020. They will join 17 community and business leaders dedicated to building the Libraries’ collections, increasing digital initiatives, advancing education, creating high-quality exhibitions and programs and securing a financial legacy.
Nancy E. Gwinn, director of Smithsonian Libraries, will retire on January 4.

The Smithsonian Libraries will hold the 2019 Dibner Library Lecture Monday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. in the S. Dillon Ripley Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The Smithsonian Libraries, situated at the center of the world’s largest museum complex, is a vital part of the research, exhibition, and educational enterprise of the Institution. The Libraries offers exceptional research resources ranging from 13th-century manuscripts to electronic journals. We are happy to offer the following fellowship opportunities for the 2020-2021 academic year.
