Carrie M. Smith
Carrie is the Library Manager of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) Library in Panama, a branch of the Smithsonian Libraries. Prior to moving to STRI, she worked for the Smithsonian Libraries as a collections librarian for the History and Culture branches, where her work included reorganizing American History divisional library collections, cataloging rare materials for the National Air and Space Museum DeWitt Clinton Ramsey Room, and managing patron services and collections maintenance at the Museum Support Center (MSC) Library in Suitland, MD.
Carrie is the former president of the Washington Rare Book Group in Washington, D.C. She holds a B.A. in the History of Art and Architecture, Miami University, Oxford, OH, and an M.L.S., with a specialization in Rare Books, from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
