On October 29, 2015, the Smithsonian Libraries held a Periscope tour of the Dibner Library for the History of Science and Technology with Lilla Vekerdy, head of Special Collections, to take a look at Eerie Anatomy rare books for Halloween week.  The Periscope, which had some audio problems during the broadcast, has been archived to YouTube.

On March 10, 2014 we welcomed Rick Anderson to give the second lecture in The Future of Access series.  Rick's talk discussed how Open Access (OA), like every other publishing or distribution model, carries with it both benefits and costs. But unlike other models, OA is built on a foundation of values and beliefs about how scholarly communication ought to be conducted-this makes conversations about its costs and benefits both difficult and fraught with passion. What can we do to make the scholarly communication space more amenable to open discussion about Open Access?
