Adversaria anatomica omnia...

Joannis Baptistae Morgagni Foroliviensis ... Adversaria anatomica omnia : novis pluribus aereis tabulis, & universali accuratissimo indice ornata : opus nunc vere absolutum, inventis, & innumeris observationibus, ac monitis refertum, quibus universa humani corporis anatome, & subinde etiam quae ab hac pendent, res medica, & chirurgica admodum illustrantur ...

By Giambattista Morgagni. Lugduni Batavorum: Apud Johannem Arnoldum Langerak, 1741.

Adversaria anatomica omnia is a series of observations on fine anatomy, particularly human internal organs. Morgagni's profoundly intriguing intellect is apparent even in this early work. Despite the modesty of its title "Notes on anatomy," Morgagni's book actually records a whole succession of discoveries regarding minute organic mechanisms. These represent new contributions to the mechanical interpretation of the structure of the human body.

Condition and Treatment:

This volume has a full calfskin binding with decorative gold tooling on the edges and on the spine. The marbled paper endsheets are original, but one is in need of repair. The upper board (the front cover) is loose and must be reattached and the joint of the lower board reinforced to prevent further stress on the marbled endpaper.
