Cooking with stamps

Cooking with stamps : food on stamps and recipes, no. 56

By Edwin L. Brooks. Milwaukee, WI: American Topical Association, 1967.

This pocket-sized booklet is part of a series of over 100 handbooks published by the American Topical Association, a philatelic society devoted to topical stamp collecting. Topical stamp collecting involves collecting stamps based on a specific subject or concept; examples are birds on stamps, trains on stamps, and people on stamps. There is even a club for people who like stamps on stamps. This book is about food on stamps. (No, not spilling food on stamps, but pictures of food on stamps). There are hundreds of black and white images of postage stamps from around the world depicting animals raised for food, depicting produce, and of people reaping, sowing, and fishing for food. The book's chapters name each continent. Each country's stamp features a recipe that they are famous for; examples are the weiner schnitzel from Austria, cornish hens from the United States, and Sarma cabbage from (the former) Yugoslavia.
