This book in James Smithson's library - annotated by him in French - was mistakenly transferred to the Library of Congress in the mid-1800s. SIL's Special Collections staff discovered it there, as well as, seven other Smithson books several years ago. LOC graciously agreed to return them. In the process, unfortunately, this book lost its front cover.

Condition and Treatment: 

Upper cover missing on this half leather binding.  Conservators will replace missing front cover with board covered in similar marbled paper and reattach to spine.
