Elegance International, fall 1971/winter 1972

Zurich: Elegance Publikations AG, 1971.

If you’re a fan of vintage couture and fancy fabric, then Elegance International, the "Swatched Edition," is for you. A collaboration between the German courtier Elysee Fabrics and Vogue Magazine, Elegance was a showcase of hundreds of actual European fabric swatches displayed alongside original Vogue pattern suggestions. Post-war fashion photographers such as Helmut Newton, Richard Dormer, Lionel Kazan, and Jean-Jacques Bugat bring haute chic to the glamourous spreads. Published in English, French, and German, Elegance was marketed to the North American fashion forward. This 1971/72 Fall-Winter issue will take you back into a time capsule of feathered coifs, drapey patterned dresses, and jersey blends.

Condition and Treatment:

This volume is a vintage fashion magazine from the early 1970's. There are small tears on the front cover. The magazine also requires an enclosure to protect it from further damage. Conservators will repair the tears and create an acid free enclosure to house this fragile item.
