Euclidis elementorvm libri XV : unà cum scholijs antiquis

By Euclid. Pisauri: Apud Camillum Francischinum, MDLXXII [1572].

Euclid's Elements is by far the most famous mathematical work of classical antiquity, and also has the distinction of being the world's oldest continuously used mathematical textbook. Little is known about the author, beyond the fact that he lived in Alexandria around 300 BCE. The main subjects of the work are geometry, proportions, and number theory.

Condition and Treatment:

This book has a later quarter-leather binding with sprinkled paper-covered boards. The sewing structure is still stable, and the cords are intact. The leather cover, however, is worn at the joints, and the boards are loosely attached and warped and need to be strengthened. The book needs a custom-fitted drop spine box to compress the covers and prevent further warping.
