Le Tunnel = Der Tunnel = Tunnel Views

A double telescopic peep show with two viewing holes. The plates are actually 5 cutout panels and a backdrop plate, connected top and bottom by bands of accordion pleated paper; final plate mounted on back cover. The perfectly drawn perspective on the last plate creates the illusion that the image continues infinitely. The peep show delineates the London Thames Tunnel showing the view from the Rotherhithe entrance side looking toward Wapping. The printed plates are exquisitely hand-colored.
