Author is Marshall Cushing, private secretary to U.S. Postmaster General John Wanamaker. There is a town in Oklahoma named after him. Little is known about his life. This book is over a thousand pages long. Bound volume. Dark colored black binding with gold stamping on front cover. Greyscale illustrations and portraits throughout. Marbled endpapers, gilt titles on embossed leather.
An embossed leather volume with gold stamping. The spine is missing and the front board is detached. The back board is held on by the sewing cords. The leather is degrading with areas of delamination and red rot.
Conservators will re-back the volume and create a clamshell box to house the volume.
