One of the earliest books with engravings of birds, which allow finer depictions than woodcuts, this is the first edition of a classic work that focuses on identifying, catching, and training song-birds. It is densely illustrated with engravings depicting the birds as well as scenes of hawking, fowling, and bird-catching. Olina is believed to have copied much of his work from an earlier book, but the illustrations by Antonio Tempesta and Francisco Villamena are fascinating.
