De Paris a Samarkand
A travelogue written of Marie de Ujfalvy-Bourdon, De Paris à Samarkand, was published in 1880. Marie de Ujfalvy-Bourdon (1845- 19?? ) traveled with her husband, Károly Jenő Ujfalvy de Mezőkövesd (16 May 1842 – 31 January 1904) who was a noted ethnographic researcher and linguist of Central Asia and the Himalayas. In 1876 he was sent by the French Ministry of Public Education on a scientific expedition to the newly conquered regions of Russian Central Asia. Marie accompanied him on the journey, something that was extremely rare for a woman of that time to do. She recorded their travels.
The Imperial Russian Dinner Service
From a limited edition of 300 copies (1909), this substantial volume tells the story of the 952-piece dinner service created by legendary potter Josiah Wedgwood for Empress Catherine II of Russia. Known as the "The Frog Service," it was the most ambitious commission Wedgwood had undertaken, and required more than 1,200 illustrations of English manor houses.

A superb monograph on the theory, construction and use of a mechanical drawing device to describe ellipses. The author, Georg Friedrich Parrot (1767 1852) was a German scientist, the first rector of the Imperial University of Dorpat (University of Tartu), being elected by the University Council consisting of all chaired professors. In this capacity, Parrot skillfully fought for the academic freedom and the self-government of the university, protecting her from the political pressure of Baltic German barons who had been given the right to autonomously govern in the Baltic provinces.
