Black Radio: Telling It Like It Was was a 13-part Smithsonian Productions program that highlighted the history of African American radio through interviews with radio hosts, record executives, and cultural historians. Produced by Jacquie Gales Webb and hosted by Lou Rawls, it won two Gold Medals at the New York Festival's International Radio Competition in 1996. The Smithsonian Institution Archives holds audio recordings, scripts, and administrative records documenting the program. In 2021, the program was re-aired for its 25th anniversary by PRX in partnership with the Smithsonian.
