Copépodes parasites de poissons et des échinides provenant des campagnes scientifiques de S.A.S. le prince Albert Ier de Monaco, 1886-1910

By Alessandro Brian. Monaco: Impr. de Monaco, 1912.

Imagine you are the heir to the throne of a small European principality and eventually you will face revolution and a world war. But before you become the sovereign, you are just a young man with a keen scientific mind, so you decide to explore the seas. So goes the story of Albert I, Prince of Monaco and a founder of modern oceanography. This book is a compilation of the oceanographical and zoological surveys Prince Albert undertook on his research yachts. Published in 1912, it focuses specifically on copepods and sea urchins studied at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. This book is written in French and contains twelve beautifully illustrated leaves of plates, the majority in full-color. It comes from the C.B. Wilson Copepod Collection at the Museum Support Center Library.
