The National geographic magazine, Vols. 1-2

Washington: National Geographic Society, 1888-1890.

This is a bound volume of the first 9 issues of the famous magazine, published only nine months after the National Geographic Society was founded in 1888. Stories range from Surveys of the Coast and Massachusetts, to the state of Africa in 1889; Rivers and valleys of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, to the Law of Storms. Volume 1, no. 4 includes A Trip to Panama and Darien by Richard U. Goode, involving the French Panama Canal Company, and discussing the topographical maps involved in surveying their attempt at building a Canal. National Geographic is a beloved magazine with “stories that take you on a journey that's always enlightening, often surprising, and unfailingly fascinating.”

Un volumen encuadernado de los primeros 9 números de la famosa revista, publicado solo nueve meses desde que se fundó la National Geographic Society en 1888. Las historias van desde Surveys of the Coast y Massachusetts hasta el estado de África en 1889; Ríos y valles de Pensilvania y Nueva Jersey, a la Ley de las tormentas. Volumen 1, no. 4 incluye Un viaje a Panamá y Darién, de Richard U. Condition and Treatment: 

A late-19th century buckram bound volume complete with the original paper wrappers. The volume is intact, but the wrappers are disintegrating. There are also multiple tears to maps bound into the volume.  Conservators will repair the wrappers, removing previous repairs that are unsympathetic. The tears to the maps will be repaired using Japanese paper.
