Nicaraguan Antiquities

Nicaraguan Antiquities is cleverly divided into three parts. The central section comprises 41 plates with beautiful illustrations of the archeological findings, plus maps showing the author’s journey through Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The first and third sections are in English and Spanish, respectively; they provide commentary by the author, Carl Bovallius, and detailed descriptions of each of the 41 plates.  Carl Bovallius (1849-1907) was a Swedish biologist and archaeologist, who studied the zoology and anthropology of Latin America in the late-19th century. He was particularly interested in the archeology and ethnography of Central America, especially Nicaragua.

Nicaraguan Antiquities está muy inteligentemente divida en tres partes. La sección central del documento tiene 41 láminas bellamente ilustradas de los hallazgos arqueológicos, además de mapas donde se describe los viajes del autor por Nicaragua y Costa Rica. La primera y tercera sección del documento están tanto en Ingles como en Castellano, respectivamente. Las láminas vienen con comentarios del autor, Carl Bovallius, para cada una de las 41 ilustraciones. Carl Bovallius (1849-1907) fue un biólogo y arqueólogo sueco, quien estudio la zoología y antropología de América Latina de finales del siglo 19. Él estuvo particularmente interesado en la arqueología y etnografía de Centroamérica, especialmente de Nicaragua.
