Official guide: souvenir program and picture book

By California Pacific International Exposition. San Diego, CA: G.F. Wolcott, c1935.

The bright California Pacific International Exposition of 1935 was dubbed "America's Exposition" for its concentration on American themes and products on display, particularly those of the local area of San Diego and southern California. There was the Gold Gulch exhibition, bringing the feel of Western mining towns of 1849 and the California Gold Rush, complete with burro rides for visitors. And one didn't want to miss the Ford Motor Company Building, designed to look like an actual V-8 engine, with a revolving hemisphere of dioramas showing off the latest in Ford automobiles. The colorful official souvenir guide is part of the extensive collection of World's Fair material held at the Smithsonian Libraries.
