Royal gardens. Illustrated with 32 full-page colour reproductions from original water-colours and with 5 pen drawings by the author.

By Cyril Ward. London, New York: Longmans, Green, 1912.

Cyril Ward (1863-1935) was a landscape painter. Thirty-two of his water colors are reproduced in this book. Many of the paintings accompany information about the grounds or castle that Mr. Ward is featuring.   A review in the Bookman, Volume 43, December 1912, when the book was first published reads, "His [Mr. Ward] pages are rich in suggestions and information that the garden lover will find helpful." Some essays are written by the Head Gardener at the estates and these essays are filled with the different plants grown on the grounds. Those who delight in the British Royal history will enjoy the tales of which royals lived where. This book also serves as documenting early 20th century British garden design on estates owned by the Royal family.
