The Cooper-Hewitt Design Library collects in the fields of graphic design, illustration, and theatre and costume design history. Walter Schnackenberg (1880-1961) studied art in Germany except for a brief period in Paris in 1907-1909. Following his return to Germany, Schnackenberg worked as a painter, illustrator, poster artist, and theatre set and costume designer. This book represents the diversity of Schnackenberg's work.

Condition and Treatment: 

Early-20th century German stapled binding. Many of the sections are loose or detached.  Conservators will disbind the book removing the rusty staples.  Repair the detached sections and any tears on individual pages. Resew the sections and re-case into the original cover.
