Titanic Tragedy

Titanic tragedy : a new look at the lost liner

By John Maxtone-Graham. New York: W.W. Norton, c2012.

A maritime historian, the author (who passed away in 2015 at age 85) gave annual lectures aboard cruise ships. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and his expertise comes across in his writing. This book is quite clearly written by someone who is extremely familiar with nautical terminology, and uses these facts to clearly tell the story of the famous sinking of the Titanic. The book includes seven detailed (and entertaining) letters written by a Titanic passenger. Each chapter begins with a famous quote from someone who was actually on board as it was sinking.
