Didier Robert de Vaugondy (1723–1786), appointed geographer of King Louis XV in 1760, created this atlas to educate young students in the basic elements of geography. With his father, Gilles Robert de Vaugondy (1688–1766), he published one of the key atlases of the century called The Atlas Universel (1757) which employed modern surveyed maps to update and correct latitude and longitude points and revise place names.

Canadian author Kenneth Kutz is an expert and enthusiast in both philately and gold. Kutz is former President of Texasgulf Mining Corporation. He is also the former President of the Collectors Club of New York, one of the oldest existing philatelic societies (founded in 1896) in the United States. This book tells the story of the Australian gold rush of 1851 through the experiences of two prospectors who participated in it.

Queensland Art Gallery curators Ted Gott and Kathryn Weir created an exhibit featuring monsters and beasts as depicted in art and entertainment history. The exhibit and accompanying book, Kiss of the Beast: From Paris Salon to King Kong highlights the many ways beasts feature prominently in imaginations of artists and filmmakers. The animal now known as the gorilla came to the attention of modern Europeans in 1847. From that time, gorillas and similar beasts have been popular subjects in sculptures, paintings, books, and movies.
